LoRaWAN Network Settings
Radio channels, sensitivity, and antenna configuration.
The Gateway operates on the 865 MHz band across 8 channels, giving it considerably more channel capacity than an individual VIoT Node — appropriate, since a single Gateway needs to listen for potentially thousands of nodes transmitting across multiple channels simultaneously. RF sensitivity is specified at -121dBm at 125kHz/SF5, and transmit power at 31dBm, both higher-performance figures than the node-side radios, which is what allows the Gateway to maintain a long-range link with nodes that are themselves running on lower-power, lower-cost radios.
The Gateway uses an external antenna connected via SMA, with a gain option ranging from 3.5dBi to 10dBi depending on what's fitted — higher-gain antennas extend range further in the antenna's favoured direction at the cost of a narrower coverage pattern, so antenna choice should be matched to the site's geography (a tall, wide-coverage antenna for an open rural site versus a more targeted pattern for a linear industrial corridor, for example).

The Gateway supports dual regions — EU868 and IN865 frequency bands — and is pre-configured out of the box to work with chirpstack.vandyam.com. It supports both Border and Relay gateway mesh configurations (see the ChirpStack Setup page) and both LoRaWAN Version 1.0.x and Version 1.1.
