Physical dimensions and how to mount the 4-20mA Node on site.
Dimensions not documented — confirm before publishing
Neither the official 2026 VIoT Catalogue nor other current documentation lists physical dimensions or weight for the 4-20mA Node. Based on product photography, it shares a similar small, compact enclosure family with the RS-485 Node, but exact measurements should be confirmed with the hardware team before being published.
Like the RS-485 Node, the 4-20mA Node is designed to be mounted close to the instrument it's reading — in this case, directly at or near the 4-20mA transmitter, since it's wired straight into that instrument's current loop. Keeping the loop wiring run short is good practice generally, and especially convenient given the node's small footprint means it can usually be fitted into the same panel or enclosure as the transmitter itself.
Mounting Options
- Panel/enclosure mount — fixed inside an existing control panel or junction box alongside the 4-20mA transmitter it connects to
- Wall mount — fixed directly to a wall or equipment frame near the connected transmitter, using the enclosure's mounting points
Placement Guidelines
- Keep the 4-20mA loop wiring between the node and the transmitter short and well-terminated, following standard current-loop wiring practice
- If mounting inside a metal control panel or cabinet, be aware this can significantly attenuate the LoRaWAN signal — routing the antenna outside the cabinet using the optional 2-metre remote antenna cable is strongly recommended in this case
- Position with as clear a path as practical toward the nearest VIoT Gateway; dense industrial environments with lots of metal will reduce effective range compared to open sightlines
- Leave the loop wiring terminals and power input accessible for future maintenance
